Had a rump steak and fish and chips. Birth were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. And for $30 all up, I couldn't complain about the price either!
Avoid Classic pot pie. Visually impressive but after 1 bite youll want to send it back. The meat is so dry with a rubber-like consistency and the carrots in my pie were completely raw. I could forgive the meat and veg being so average if I could taste anything other than peppercorns. Whoever made this has no idea how to use them in a meaningful way cause every spoonful I took had around 5 whole peppercorns per mouthful. To the owners, please change the recipe, its so so bad but only because of lack of effort.
Nice premises, a variety of cuisine choices, beer was cold, and bread was good. We ordered two meals - a Hot Pot pie and a chicken schnitzel, both with a side of mashed potato. The pie and schnitzel were good, but in both cases the potato was stone motherless cold. Sent one lot back to be reheated so we could share, only for us to find it to be so salty it couldn't be eaten. And we don't believe it was real potato. Disappointing, especially when we paid an extra $6 for the potato as a side to the pie.
The hotel stay was good, understand that the building is quite old. The rooms and alleys in guests region needs light and bright color walls to lift the whole feel. Having said that, the pub was lively with good food and music. Excellent location too. Overall our experience is above average.
A magnificent building in the heart of the city. Great food, cocktail bar and grand ballroom. The accommodation is the only thing that let's it down. 5 star venue with 1 star accommodation....4 stars!
